My 86 year old mom has cradle cap. I have tried every product out there to get rid of it. I wash her hair every other day with baby shampoo. She hates getting her hair washed. Any suggestions? Thanks

Easy answer: comb the hair with rubbing alcohol after every shower or bath. Will disappear after a few applications.

Definitely have the scalp checked for some kind of fungus. The MD may want to prescribe something specific for whatever she has.

There are several OTC medicated shampoos that can help with heavy dandruff, but you may want to check with her doctor. Sometimes prescription-strength shampoos or antifungal and corticosteroid creams that are stronger than those available over the counter are needed. (medicinenet)

I would use some baby oil and a fine tooth comb before washing hair with dandruff shampoo 2x per week. After about 3 weeks it was gone. My mom had hair loss from chemo that never really grew back. In earlier years she wore a wig but in later years she wore a terry cloth cap/ turban . Was easier to leave baby oil in hair because she had her hat on.
