My friends sisters and I do not know what to do! Julie is in a group home in a wheelchair after a stroke left her paralized. She is almost $10,000 in debt because she gives all her social security checks to nigerian princes and scammers. She has not paid the home in ages or her other bills. She is going to end up on the street. We have pleaded but she lies and has not stopped. What can we do?? She will not turn over her finances willingly. They cannot afford a lawyer to take her to court.

Find Care & Housing
Nnotify the police and group home management. It needs to stop from the inside. This is only the first step. Obviously she is mentally incompetent. Make sure her doctor is aware.
Is she eligible to go on Medicaid into a SNF based on her ADLs? This is the last resort from being homeless

You don't mention a PoA so assuming she doesn't have one and now probably not able to create one.

"Someone" needs to get guardianship or have APS acquire guardianship for her. No one can do anything unless they have legal authority to do so. There is no other option.

Did this behavior start with the stroke?
Does this person have a POA or guardian?

Speak with social worker or like person involved with the group home.
Speak also with the administration of the group home.
