I continually tell them to check for uti's she is resistant to some of the antibiotics but whenever they do a culture she gets better with the screaming now she has bed sores and they have a wound dr. taking care of , but she has lost 13 lbs in the last 2 months, she has no teeth and they have been giving her a diet she can't possible swallow, which after complaining they have just changed. I feel the screaming is due to not finding out what is bothering her and she can't communicate well. I am at my wits end.
Also, if you feel the nursing home isn't doing what it should for her care, go to www.ltcombudsman.org and type in the Zip code of the nursing home. This will give you the contact information for the nursing home you are dealing with. The ombudsman is your personal representative for long-term care facilities, so you can get some important information just from chatting with him or her. Good luck,
Carol
its my understanding that pressure sores are pretty much unavoidable when a person has lost a lot of body mass. the bones smash off circulation in the emaciated flesh. perhaps better care would minimize the damage but the sores are common in terminal patients.
