We've been wondering. Over and above the daily care needs of feeding, bathing, watching over - does anyone provide services to help organize the lives of our elderly parents?
I'm thinking about managing doctors appointment, and ensuring they get there. Advocating for their needs in a care home and making sure they are getting helped the way they are supposed to. For example if you do not live in the same city it can be hard to keep an eye on this even if you talk on the phone regularly.
Is there such a thing as... an executive assistant for an elderly parent who doesn't have adult children to manage these things for them? (and who is longer able to manage it themselves reliably)
I personally only know 1 friend who hired such a professional in FL for her mom while my friend lived in MN. She had an excellent experience (and this was 5 or more years ago). I don't know the hourly rate, and if you find one, you probably won't be their only client, as demand is high.
In order to hire such a person for an elder (if they are incapacitated either cognitively or physically), one must have the legal authority to do so such as PoA or guardianship. The one who hires the Manager is still going to need to monitor, answer questions, sign forms, make decisions, etc. when needed. I don't know if the managers will shuttle people around to appointments but would probably be the ones to find and oversee the transportation. Others on this forum will have more info to provide from their own experiences.
