Is this long term care insurance? Or a policy that gives you "extra income" if you are in the hospital long term? You need to read the policy. If it is a policy that only applies to hospitalizations in acute facilities, then no, they should keep it, in my opinion. No one is kept in an acute facility for 20 days! But read the policy carefully and perhaps ask a lawyer for advice.

So, the policy will pay $100 per day after they have paid for care for 20 days? EACH? That's $6000 per month, yes? Enough for assisted living?

If the policy will pay for in home care ordered by an MD, then USE it to pay for extra help. Read it carefully.
