I’m wondering if there are external speakers, preferably bluetooth, that can be used with televisions to provide closer listening and clarity to the hearing impaired.
I just need to point out that everyones hearing problem is different. Its not always a volume thing that making something louder will also make the words clearer.
With my DH its a childhood accident that perforated his eardrum abd damaged the bone and nerves behind the ear. He does not hear words like we do. He says its like listening thru static. Turning up the volume may help to distinquish a word but does not make it clearer. Those who at one time heard well, may not do well with the new digital hearing aids or an implant because the sound is more mechanical sounding. Not actually how the person sounds. My husband always wore analog which is a true sound. He had and still has a problem wearing digital.
My husband uses cc but really doesn't like it. He says he misses what is going on.
There is something called TV ears. They are cordless. The volume can be set for one person to hear the TV comfortably and the one with the hearing device and turn the volume up on the device. We had them because I could not be in the same room as my husband when he had the TV on. He is extremely hard of hearing and I am sensitive to loud sounds.
It works for the person who needs to hear but not the other person trying to listen too. When u plug in a headset, it usually mutes the sound. There are headsets that don't. We tried one and could not get it to work with our TV.
