kobielusz, was your husband diagnosed specifically with Alzheimer's or with the more generic "dementia." The type of dementia makes a big difference in how stages are identified.

Some people without dementia enjoy playing with children and some people are argumentative all their lives. Did these two behaviors come on recently for your husband?

I am not sure you can determine what "stage" his dementia is in from these behaviors, but keep a log of all changes and discuss the log with his doctor at every visit.

Sounds like my father his entire life! They define stages more by the person's abilities. There are two scales - three stages or seven stages. Mild is when you start noticing changes. In Moderate, they become unable to do different kinds of self-care. In severe, they are really lost and then bedridden. Google it for more info.
