I come to you all quite frequently because there is a wealth of information out there and I really appreciate it. I need to know if anyone has ever heard of "STRESS" causing a Grand Mal (Tonic-Clonic) seizure? I just had one and it has really turned my life upside down. Now I cannot drive and have just had the rug pulled out from under me. I have been under an enormous amount of stress and all of my MRI's and EEG's are normal. I don't know what else to think.
He went to all kinds of specialists and had many tests, including the one that tests your equilibrium. Also tested for ear infections, blood pressure, cardiac, dental, blood conditions, opthamologist, etc. Everything was considered due to his repeated episodes of seizure like spells. His body would jerk, loose his vision, feel faint like passing out, and feel dizzy. His blood pressure remained normal and his heart showed fine as documented with a monitor he wore for weeks.
These spells started suddenly when he was under a lot of stress. AFTER all medical experts ruled out other medical reasons, he was referred to a psychiatrist and was diagnosed with CONVERSION DISORDER. You can check it out online. He accepted the diagnosis, went on medication for depression/anxiety, and learned ways to ward off the spells if he feels them coming on. Two years later no re-occurrences!
You might discuss it with your doctor. I'd keep an open mind.
I do believe stress can cause a multitude of different health ailments.
