Does anyone have any experience with T M J? I've been having troubles with this for a couple of weeks now. Painkillers work but I'd like to get rid of it, not mask it with medication.
Ali, my love! Yes! You just reminded me about something I still have. It's a rice filled thing that you put in the microwave for 2 min. I used to use it for my neck pain. I'm going to drag that out right now. Thank-you so much for reminding me.
Hah, I used to put it on my neck/top of my shoulders, too. I think it helps relieve tension in those small areas and hopefully, fingers crossed, everything gets back to feeling normal again. 😊😘
I had some painful symptoms like TMJ that lasted for several months a few years ago. I think it was stress-related, and the clenching behavior was from stress, but I'm not sure. I used heated rice in a sock (found that tip online) to put heat right on the area and the symptoms went away after treating it like that for a several weeks. Plus the hot pad just feels good when it's hurting. I sympathize, Gershun. Hope you can get some relief!
*After replying, I was curious how I learned about hot packs for TMJ, but there's a lot of info online about this. Seems most people can treat at home with hot/cold packs. The hot pack worked for me. https://www.kuzmaadvanceddentistry.com/blog/are-you-hot-or-cold-treating-tmj-pain-at-home/
Send, I went to a dentist and got a mouth guard made especially for me. I stopped wearing it though cause it kind of forced me to sleep with my mouth open and then my throat would get dry.
I HATE GOING TO THE DENTIST!!!! Whaaaaa..................!!!! May be the only phobia I truly have. I've been known to have panic attacks at the dentist.
Should I go to a dentist or chiropractor for TMJ? In cases where TMJ pain may be due to excessive tension or the physical strain that often accompanies emotional stress, a chiropractor can realign the body and reduce pain that relates to the patient's jaw condition.
Yes! I have been healed of tempo-mandibular joint/TMJ disorder. Yay!
Only one adjustment. And I was told to stop clenching my teeth.
It never came back again. No medication required. I also wore a mouth splint-a flat piece of hard plastic that covered my teeth-it only took a couple of months to learn to not clench my teeth.
A dentist, or maybe a chiropractor can make an adjustment. I think it was my dentist who held my jaw open and asked me to close my mouth really tight. It could have been the other way around-holds your jaw closed and asks you to open your mouth.
For disclaimer purposes, see your dentist/chiropractor. Don't try this at home.

Be sure to clean it daily. Feel inside the unit, it is slippery.
Glad you already have a mouth guard!
But I may have to. Sigh................
Thx for the info. so far.
