I am 57 year old disabled woman and I only get $949 per month. I am looking for housing, transportation, just any kind of resources that may be available to me. I have medicaid now but I'm supposed to sign up for Medicare in Oct and I have no idea what to pick or how to afford it.
I guess I'm just asking is there a website for someone whose new to all this stuff and it can show you resources and. What to do

People on here are Caregivers and try our best to help all people who have a question. Go to your Local Housing authority and ask about senior and disabled HUD housing . Ask Your Primary care doctor to give you a Therapist or social worker to help you and advise you on Medicare - Medicare shouldn't cost you that Much since your income is so Low . Also see if you can get some Physical therapy , a VNA Nurse and all the support you will need. make sure to get a disabled apartment with reasonable accomadations . In case you can't do stairs . There are usually ride services for the disabled to get to Doctors appointments .

Are you on Social Security Disability?

Office of Aging can help you pick the right Medicare for you. Social Services should help you find resources. HUD has apartments that charge rent on scale, usally 30% of your total income. There is also a Supplimental income you could receive called SSI.

Request through your State Medicaid office an advisor or social worker to help you work through this transition.
If they do not have or do not supply such a thing they may be able to point you in the right direction to seek help. You have my sympathy. It is a true maze out there for the average person doing such a thing.

This is a forum for people who are caregivers looking for advice on matters pertaining to caregiving.

It is not the Department of Social Services. If you are on disability and Medicaid, you'll likely also be on a rent voucher (Section 8), and food stamps. This means you have a state case worker who handles your programs. Get in touch with them about your other needs to find out what's available.

I'm surprised that you being on Medicaid and disability that there isn't a home/health aide being sent for you a few hours a week. This would be something woth discussing with your doctor because they would be the one to approve the request for one. Home/health will also come for a person whose disability is mental too.
