My grandma has been going insane for the past few days. She hasn't eatin' anything for almost 4 consecative days and is only consuming tea and perhaps a few crumbs of food. She screams daily,at the top of her voice in the garage so that the whole nieghbour hood can hear her and make stories about my family. She is swearing at us, saying horrible stuff and she is not even staying quite for a couple of minutes. She is doing this for 24/7 and i am sick of it. I wanna kill her , i seriously wanna. But my religion does not allows it so im compeled to not to. What should i do????????

She may have a urinary tract infection, which can cause them to go crazy. If so, she will get better. Could she be in pain? Can she tell you what's going on?

There is medication that can help her calm down. She is clearly miserable. A tranquilizer or antidepressant or antipsychotic can make both of you much happier. She needs immediate medical attention.

Once she is in hospital you can refuse to take her back as you are unable to provide the proper care - as has been mentioned above . Obviously her needs are way beyond what a home can provide for, and her care stresses you beyond any reasonable limits. I agree don't beat yourself up. Call for help, get her into hospital, and talk with the staff/social workers about how this is too much for you. Is there anyone else at home/in the family sharing the care with you? Please come back and let us know how it goes. ((((((((hugs))))))))

I'd say she qualifies for psychiatric evaluation under a 50-54 or whatever that code is. Involuntary committal for 3 days for mental evaluation would at least give the family a break while they make plans of what to do with her. She clearly cannot go on with the current arrangement.

Yes, call for help! She's too much for you to handle. Keep us posted on what happens.

i think thats great advice from debra. 70 % of americans want to live out their days at home but less than 30% actually do. there may come a time when they require 3 shifts of skilled nursing. your clearly overwhelmed if your beginning to have homicidal or suicidal thoughts. were only human, dont beat yourself up.
lastly, if g-ma is that far gone you should have had hospice help long ago, imo..

Call an ambulance to take her to the ER. Once there they will evaluate her as to what can be done. Refuse to take her back to your home. She is far too much to handle for you. Why are you her caregiver and not her children?
