Find Care & Housing
No. There is not a Medicare plan that will pay for in home care. If prescribed by a doctor you.may be able to get assistance with bathing, medication management, etc. Call UHC to see what they will cover. Also call the Area Agency on Aging to.learn about resources in your location.

Medicare Advantage plans do not cover the same things Medicare does not cover, i.e., they would not cover a caregiver in the home or nursing home care except for time-limited stays for rehab. The exception would be if someone is discharged from the hospital and needs some assistance at home for a limited period of time, or if they have some kind of acute medical condition that needs at home services such as a visiting nurse, PT, etc. The services need to be ordered by a doctor to be covered by insurance. As far as getting a caregiver, Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans might cover a home health aide to assist with bathing or showering for a couple of hours a day a few days a week while the person is is deemed to be in a recuperation stage or is getting in-home rehab and nursing services. I'm afraid you'll have to explore other avenues for getting the help you and your husband need.

Look for the customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card. Call them directly to get that question answered.

I doubt it but check your policy to be sure.

Are you talking about respite care or full time care?

Have you looked into Council on Aging in your area? They won’t provide full time care but if your loved one qualifies you will receive a certain amount of hours per month.

You could also look into placement at an assisted living facility if you are able to pay.

Your profile says that your husband is 80 with Alzheimer’s disease. I’m sure that you have your hands full and need a break.

Best wishes to you.

Probably not. Caregivers are rarely paid by health insurance. Check with your Advantage plan. My mom had United for her regular Medicare supplement. It did not pay fore caregivers.
