I'm a live-in 24/7 caretaker for a gentleman that's 82 with Alzheimer's. I was supposed to get 2 days 4 hours a day off, but that doesn't happen. I get paid 750 a month cash in my hand. They give me 4:50 for food for him and I and I live here 24/7. I have no insurance and no future with this. They claim there isn't any more money but they have trailers on his property that they rent and they take the income from the trailers and pocket it. None of them are poor they all have good jobs or are retired. One the lady the oldest daughter she actually is doing very well off and she's the one that's paying me. What can I do or should I do? I do care for the Old Gentleman and I know if I leave that he will end up in a home or they'll just pick anybody to take care of him cuz of being cheap. He still gets around and is very physically healthy and I do not think a home is a place for him yet.
Room and board are never considered as partial payment for necessary live in services. Stop letting them take advantage of you and your caring heart.
