Yes, she got voicemail. Normally she would ask me to check it and we would delete the message (usually from some marketer). Vm was on the menu. I have no idea how its setup on the smartphone since we never tried one of those. Mom had used a flip phone for years and when I saw jitterbug offered one, I grabbed it!
My mom used the jitterbug flip phone with the actual buttons. As best I remember the phone had a top row of YES, NO, and MENU, then the numbers and a bottom row with back and a big button for the coiniage service (put you in touch with a person who could dial any number in your contacts). The buttons are larger than most cell phones but not as large as the enlarged console phones made for landlines.
TNtechie, is your Mom able to get voicemail? I have the Jitterbug SmartPhone and have yet to figure out how to set up voicemail. The instruction book has zero info on how to do that.... [sigh].
CaringDaughter7, I have yet to find a handheld cellphone where one can enlarge the font large enough to see. And for dialing or texting, I need to use a stylus pen which is a ballpoint pen that has a soft rubber tip.
There are quite a few desk top landline telephone that have large numbers, and there is even a "close caption" landline telephone. I don't know the manufacturer, one would need to check on-line. I would suggest buying a phone from a catalog that is geared for seniors.
I know what you mean about those extra keys that one usually doesn't use on a regular basis. Wish manufacturers would keep thing simple.
