Is this Respite going to be in a facility or at home? By facility I mean a rehab unit, Hospice In Patient or other AL,MC or other? Tough decision on moving someone out of the house to a facility at this time. If it is Respite in your house that makes it even more difficult for you to "get away" since there really is no place to go. Do you have children near by where it would be safe for you to go? Other option would be to find a place in your home to make into a "sanctuary", someplace where you can go and "get away" I would even put a lock on the door so no one can get in....Stock your room with a mini fridge and any thing you think you might need or want. You can do a mini retreat. I know not great but better than nothing. The important thing is when you have caregivers in taking care of your husband they are not to disturb you. At all. And more difficult, you are not to "help" them. Take care of yourself!
