I recently published a 5-part series on my blog, Daring Transformations on how to find help paying for eldercare. Most areas of the country have a 211 liine. Give them a call to see what is available to you locally for services. You can also go to Benefits Checkup https://www.benefitscheckup.org/ to see what benefits you and your dad may be eligible for.

Be very very careful if your father "pays you to be his caregiver" as this could have the effect to disqualify your dad from Medical Assistance--they will see those caregiving paychecks as gifts, not wages, unless you have a detailed caregiving Contract in place, keep daily records of the activities you are billing him for, he pays Social Security-unemployment-insurance and you pay income tax both Federal and state.

Have you checked with the State of New York for welfare benefits? Can your father pay you to be his caregiver using his social security/pension?

If you need help with the hands-on care, contact your county agency on aging for programs such as Case Management, Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Care, housing, care referrals, etc,... go to the website link below.... click on your State.... now click on the city/county. https://www.agingcare.com/local/Area-Agency-on-Aging
