I did receive reimbursement from the lawyer today. He charged me $2,600 for their minimal work on the case. I did get an itemization that included time for review of my emails - not that they ever responded to them even the one which I attached the PI report that brother is elusive.
They could have avoided waste of my retainer but didn’t - I’m so glad I halted this process. The paralegal didn’t even know how to spell dementia - she spelled it “dimentia.” Oh and they charged me an additional flat rate “set-up” fee of $1,000.

I walked into a Chico’s store yesterday and lo and behold the salesperson was the “former” office manager at the Personal Care Home (not assisted living as it turns out - they aren’t licensed). This is the woman involved in drafting, presenting and witnessing the new HCPOA for mom to sign back in January. Now working at Chico’s - doesn’t have a clue what she did was unethical. Makes me wonder what qualified her to prepare and execute legal documents to begin with.

Just letting this group know my brother moved my mom to an assisted living in whatever town he has relocated to. No word to me - I heard it from my daughter who has talked to her and she says she’s fine and happy. Saga is over.
