Im a in home caregiver for a disabled veteran. Per the contract/ agreement I am not responsible for any overhead/utilities or to use any of my salary and or EBT towards the household!! Why is his fiduciary expecting.... well telling me I'm responsible to pay the water bill and I will not receive any salary for 2 months. She also mentioned a month ago that I am not putting in enough money towards the household food budget??

Take them to Small Claims to recover what you are owed.

Do you have a contract with the VA? If so, then you should be calling them. Maybe this fiduciary has no idea what a contract means. They also cannot hold your pay. That I would call the Labor board about. You can also call APS and tell them you are not being paid. That if you choose to leave, you will be leaving a vulnerable adult if Fiduciary doen't step in right away.

If you are going to make a living this way, you need to learn to standbup for yourself. First you have a contract that someone agreed to when u were hired. The first week you did not get paid, the labor board should have been called. Told there was a contract in place and you have not been given your wages.

Why? Because they are seeing that the costs of a caregiver are higher than the budgeted for or are willing to pay so they are trying to claw back some of their expenses by reneging on your contract. This is not somebody you want to work for, when somebody shows you their true colours you should understand that no matter what compromise or new arrangement you might work out they are not going to change - move on.

Are you doing a live in case? I'm a CNA/HHA and that's why I never did a live in case.

If you are employed through an agency, please let them know what is happening. Since you have a contract, please contact the person who created this contract and let them know what is going on. That they are holding this water bill over your head and refusing to pay you.

If you are working a private case, you should never have been held responsible for water bills or other utilities. You are a worker in someone's home and not a renter. This woman who is a fiduciary has twisted some protocol in keeping your job separate from your living condition. It sounds like a way to prevent paying you a salary.

It doesn't sound like you are in the US.

I'm thinking you are not in USA, we pay are water bills to the town , where I live, in NYS

So I'm confused about who the water bill goes to. And who is saying you are responsible.

Is your client in an apartment and maybe your names on the lease.

Also, if this is 6 weeks of pay , that's a lot of water, who was not paying the water bill?.

It was time to quit this job 6 weeks ago when no salary showed up.
It is ridiculous for anyone to suggest that you pay a utility bill of your client.
You should be responsible for your OWN food and not eating the food of your client no should you be responsible for your client's food.

I think you need to quit this job. You are not being paid. Generally people do not work without pay.
