My wife has been disabled since she was 9 months oldShe suffers from asthma, von hipple landau, traumatic brain injury, seizures. I would like to know what programs I could utilize for caregiving, I have been her caregiver for the last 18years, her disease and issues have escalated. We have family members willing to help, where do we start. Right now she is going to have a kidney removed due a mass to large to remove by itself, so the right kidney is going to removed.

Medicare will cover post surgical care in a skilled nursing facility for 20 days. Ask the MD to order that care.

Nonsense. As a taxpayer under our Healthcare System you are entitled to a lot of services BUT you have to apply for them. If you do not get assistance from the Community Care programme, visit your MPP and get support for doing so emphatically from the balance of your family.

For in-home help try a home healthcare agency. They have nurses and aides that come to your home. There's usually an hourly minimum for example a 2-hour minimum. A supervising nurse will come out and assess your wife's needs and the needs of the family and assist you in deciding what shifts would benefit your wife.

Now's the time to start doing some research on what you'll need so you can have a plan in place.
