I am 64 years old and on Medicaid.

You won't get Medicare unless you paid into the system. If you have been Medicaid all your life, you will continue on Medicaid.

You won't be switched over as the benefits come from two different sources. Medicare cones from the federal government and you should get it when you turn 65. It does cost money. The Medicaid comes from the state and is free to you. There are programs that can pick up the Medicare cost for you depending on how much your income is. There are several ways to get more infornation....call 1 800 medicare, call your Medicaid worker or check your state's Medicaid website.
