Good morning everyone,

Over the weekend, we experienced a technical issue that prevented users from logging into the AgingCare site. The issue was fixed, but some users did not regain access immediately. Our development team did a sweep for affected users yesterday and restored their access.

If you were having issues logging in, a simple password reset will get you back into your account.

Some profile pages were showing 404 errors as part of this issue. These profile pages have been restored.
If you have further issues with seeing your profile page or logging into your account, please use the “Send Us a Message” form on this page to let us know: agingcare.com/aboutus

Updates on other fixes:
Our automatic spam blocker has been extra sensitive as of late and some users have been incorrectly blocked from posting. A fix for this is being coded and should be ready in approximately 2 weeks (allow a few extra days for testing and troubleshooting). If you feel you’ve been blocked in error, please use the “Send Us a Message” form on this page to let us know: agingcare.com/aboutus.

Message deletion is down on profile pages. A fix for this will be coded after the work on the spam blocker.

Additionally, our roadmap for the future includes building a messaging "block" feature, to stop messages from people you don't want to hear from.
In the meantime, you can hide the public messages other users have left on your wall by going to agingcare.com/profile/privacy and turning off “Show Public Messages” in your privacy settings.

We appreciate your patience, and the support you show one another on AgingCare.

Shocked:
I can easily find your question.
Go to your profile.
Look at the questions you are following.
It's right there.
"How to handle conflct between South Carolina APS and my greedy sister over our dad (with dementia)?"

Greetings,

I made a Post Nov. 1-2024, & I've skimmed through pages that go back in to October, & I can't find it.

Could this "technical issue" have caused that? :

"Asked Nov 1, 2024

Peasuep - that's why many moons ago we asked for and received the Needs Answers tab

Also, is there a way to keep replies to people down the thread from getting lost? Lots of times there are really good and on-topic questions that never get answered and I’m sure new people who ask them are thinking they are being ignored.

Can we please get the ability to report a new post so that people won't keep commenting on them and bring them to the top of the forum?

And come on everybody, stop feeding the trolls!! Chances are very high that the very first comment was made in order to report the post and you too can use that to log a report, there's no need to keep commenting over and over. Alternatively use the contact us feature to report problematic posts without ever having to make a contribution to that thread.

They are absolutely more responsive now, both with tech that scans for problem posts and in removing posts that don't follow their guidelines. There was a period of time when there were so many trolls and fights among members I was afraid the forum was going to flame out

cwillie, I didn't find this forum until Sept 2019. Do you think the admins respond better/faster now than in the past?

Maybe Geaton. But you likely weren't here during the bad old days.

cwillie, the window to edit would be limited, just like in regular public responses to posts. They could have a shorter window if they're worried about harrassment. Plenty of harrassment already shamelessly occurs right in broad daylight on people's posts.

Hm, I'd probably just open two tabs and switch back and forth, but that's easier on a PC than a phone.

Lol, I didn't think that came out right. When someone sends you a PM, and you reply to them, I would like to be able to go back and read what the person wrote to me, Incase I missed something.

But I have to send it then go back read it again, and then send them another post if I missed something.

Now am I making sense? 😉

I'm unsure what you mean by that Anxietynacy, nobody can see a PM but the sender and the recipient 🤔

Cwillie, that's true, but I'm thinking if there was away to go back and read what OP said, would make things easier.
(2)

Oh seriously, absolutely, 100 percent agree with greeton!!

Geaton - I think an obvious reason would be that people could harass someone by sending nasty PM's and then deleting the evidence.

Admins: unrelated question...

Why can't we edit PMs like other posts?
(2)

Sorry guys, but the new changes are not bothering me at all I kind of like them.

"Visit the Forum" is still on the lower right hand side of the home page for me. It's underneath the picture of the caregiver, woman and her mother/aunt/friend.

I'm on a Mac laptop.

Mine is there on my profile.

Where I see a blue box and GO, some are seeing their letter avatars -lea LE, Peggy Sue PE
(1)
Report

Sorry Golden I should have been more specific - the avatars are still there when we post but the one that used to be at the top (where we access our profile etc) has now been replaced

I'm not sure why some of you aren't seeing the community link, one thought is that sometimes web pages don't display properly when you are zoomed in too much.

I see your avatar, cw and mine - pic of Rocky - is still there and I see lea's, and Geston's and Alva's...
I'm on my laptop.

Yes, everyone has had their avatar replaced by their screen name initials, my box says CW 😉

Never fear, the forum won't be eliminated as long as it continues to be a way to lure people to the site

I don't have a black box. I have a blue box that says GO with a drop down list starting with Profile, News Feed...

Definitely it is much more geared to marketing/ I wonder if they are working on phasing out the social aspect. It was not the original goal, I suspect, We may have to start our own facebook or other site group.

They for sure won't be labelling the forum as the home page PeggySue, although a forum might be what what AgingCare began as 20 years ago it's a small part of what this site is about today 🤣

Click on the black box with “pe” on it, then select “news feed.” The “community” tab will show up at the top.

Admin, consider replacing “community” with “forum” or “home.”

Lea, if you turn your tablet horizontally does community show up?
(0)
Report

Alva, I understand that, but "Community" is not on my page anywhere.

Geaton, on my screen, I have no tab for Community which was formerly Forum.

But there IS a telephone next to the search magnifier and a blue box marked LE that drops down and offers:

Profile
Newsfeed
Activity
Settings
Log Out

EDIT: THE COMMUNITY TAB DOES APPEAR ON MY SMART PHONE. BUT NOT MY TABLET.

"Community" is the new menu tab formerly "Forum"

Lea, for me it shows at the top of my laptop AgingCare on the far left. Moving right you come first to "Find Care" then to "Resources" and the to "Community".
I am a bit surprised no one has communicated with us whatsoever and it makes me wonder, hard as it would be to find how to pose a question as a "newbie" and with all the two month old questions popping up, if AC just is going to kind of move out of the "Forum" business. It seems odd no one would communicate with us regulars on the Forum. Perhaps will just stay tuned a few days and they will get to us. Hope so.

I have nothing labeled "community" on my tablet cwillie. So yes, the forum is VERY well hidden 😑
