The after effects…

We caregivers give so much of ourselves to help our loved ones. But what about afterwards?

My mom passed away October of 2022, she was 91. In November 2022 I became ill with what my Dr. thinks is a systemic inflammation disease. Most days I am in so much pain that I can only enjoy an hour or two of my day. I’m sad for my wonderful husband and myself. We now have the time and freedom to enjoy our time together, but no, not happening. I am angry and regretting all my effort I put into making sure everything was the best it could be for mom. She never thought I was enough anyway.

So, please take to heart what I’m saying here! Do what you can for your LO, but for goodness sake take time for yourself and your other loved ones. Your own illness or theirs may be right around the corner.

Thank you for sharing this. I moved to my hometown to care for my mother who is in a facility and in hospice / palliative care--but has lived much longer than expected. I need to reevaluate my priorities.
