I checked the labels on my dry shampoos. One of them was on the recall list so I had to dispose of it. The ingredient "benzene" was not listed, but it was definitely on the recall list. Please be safe and protect yourself by finding out about this.

purrna2go, thanks for the reminder. Here's more information from the FDA, plus photo of the bottles on that list.

You can only use those dry shampoos for a while--maybe buy you a couple of days between a good shampooing. Mother hated washing her hair and didn't do it--the hair follicles were so clogged with this dry shampoo and styling products she started to lose almost all her hair. Her scalp was thick with scaly skin. (Think cradle cap in babies).

I was only able once to get her head completely cleaned off and when her hair started to grow back, she was thrilled. The scalp is different skin that the rest of the body and needs to be kept clean. Plus, it added to the 'old person' smell.

Dr shampooing is like using wipes to bathe. Temporary and not without side effects.

The recall is only for aerosol products.

Unilever United States today issued a voluntary product recall to the consumer level of select lot codes of dry shampoo aerosol products produced prior to October 2021 from Dove, Nexxus, Suave, TIGI (Rockaholic and Bed Head), and TRESemmé due to potentially elevated levels of benzene.
