I'm on original Medicare. Anyone know of a reputable place that has vetted discounts specifically for seniors for things like dental care, fitness, hearing aids? So far I've checked out the Chapter Retirement app and they look trustworthy, but they also look pretty new and are still in the process of making more benefits available.

Would love tips on how to make access to these types of things easy and affordable from others who also don't have these things pre-built into their insurance plans.

Many Senior Centers have classes that are free or low cost and some may do a sliding scale.
Park Districts also have programs many are fee based but some are free.
If your area has a County "Forest Preserve" or "Conservation District" many of those offer opportunities to get out and meet people, get fresh air and exercise.
Some Libraries also offer many outings as well.
One thing to look into is that many of these very same programs look for Volunteers to help with the programs. So no only do you have an opportunity to do some of these things at reduced cost or possibly no cost you are meeting people and getting out and doing things you may not have done. And maybe as a Volunteer some of the other amenities may be available to use for reduced fee.
Depending on the area you live in an investment in a bike might be an option as well. Where I am we have great bike paths and the only thing preventing me is my knee!

My local YMCA offers a senior discount on membership. For hearing aids, I'm told Costco is the best; they did a very thorough audiology exam on both my husband and myself. Neither of us is in need of hearing aids yet.

Ooh! Thanks for the tip on YMCA and Costco. It sounds like everyone still basically has to go out and forage for their own collection of benefits :( I was hoping there would be someplace that has just a handful of vetted options for necessary lifestyle things that are specifically great for seniors so I don't feel like I have to go cave-diving to browse and research and compare within AARP's endless options. I live in Arizona so Chapter's local dental deals seem promising and I might try their meal delivery too. Any idea what folks typically do for dental?

I am fortunate in that I have retiree dental insurance from the employer.

A good place to ask questions which are financial in nature is www.bogleheads.org.

I knew I taught my kids the 'mend & make do' model.. ahem.. too much when one attempted their own dentistry by filing their own rough tooth... Independance is great but Ohh Noo... Some things DO need a professional!

Many Medicare supplement plans offer Silver Sneakers exercise programs for free online or in person, as well as free membership in selected gyms. I recently joined an in-person class, and heard the instructor telling someone that she welcomed anyone over 65, even if they don't have Silver Sneakers; she just doesn't get paid for that person, but is paid on a per capita basis for those who have Silver Sneakers. (She may be exceptional--I'm not sure about other instructors.)

My former dentist’s office had their own insurance plan. I don’t know how it worked because I already had dental insurance, but they asked patients if they wanted info about their plan.

Check with your office of Aging to see if they have a list of discounts. Me, I am a coupon clipper for fast food places. I also have their apps and look for deals they give there.

I always ask if there is a Senior discount.
