Just reading about "The Village" concept and love it.Tight budget! Ideas, anyone? We are on a VERY tight budget as we have only my husband's disability left.(SSA) Everything else was lost in the last 5 years due to him having Alzheimer's and it taking FOREVER for him to be approved 18 months later w/o any back pay. Would LOVE to start a village here or on a river or ocean. YES, I love water! Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance for any and all help and advice!

As for affordable communities in the Richmond, Virginia area, see the blue box on the right side of the screen.... enter your zip code. There is also a free magazine called "Guide to Retirement Living Source Book" [type that into Google] that one can get for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Contact your social worker about subsidized housing. Senior villages are pricey.

It's a bit pricey but the Chamberlain in Hampton overlooks the bay and is just lovely. I'd give my right arm if my father would consider moving there (we live in Williamsburg and he resides in TN...) historicchamberlin

chealbelle, I just checked out the website for the Chamberlain.... OMG what a beautiful place, and what a view. I think it is fantastic that a developer took a historic hotel and made it into a senior retirement home. Roomy floor plans.
