Everyday there is something that upsets dad ...he thinks the bank is taking his money ...neighbors are spying on him...people are following him, when he's driving...Yes he's still driving with a revoked licenses. I have contacted our local police department and even followed him and flagged a police vehicle down and told them the situation....they tired to follow him but lost him. Lately he has become very upset with everything and has stated twice that he'll kill himself (with a gun ...which he doesn't own one) and kill the lady at the bank. I SO NEED HELP....PLEASE

I agree with Christina and lsmiami - this is a serious matter. Does his doctor know that he is driving without a licence and making these threats? Some people disable the car - which can be done pretty easily, I gather. I do think his doctor needs to know about his decline in behaviour; It would be good to document what is happening. Also you could contact the local Agency on Aging and Social Services for ideas as to how to deal with this. I see he lives with you. That arrangement may have to be changed. It sounds like his Alz/dementia is progressing and he needs a reassessment, and additional treatment. Other groups you might contact Suicide Prevention and/or Mental Health organizations. They should be able to provide some support for you. Good luck and come back and let us know how you are. ((((((Hugs))))) Joan

hes old enough to realize the bank is a govt parasitic organization that IS proffiting off of his labor and i understand entirely. otherwise paranoid schitzo disorder can be medicared but that aint going to keep the bank from living high off his proceeds. america is f***ed iz what im sayin. the only industry we have anymore is the financial industry and its the pyramid scheme from hell.. 75 % of the wealth in america is held by the retirees, who do you think the banks are going to try to rip off??

Cap'n, can you behave yourself, please?
Jlm, somehow you need to get him to a psych ward for evaluation. Maybe the police can come to the house and help you. This is serious. Prayer for safety,) xo

The fact that he does not own a gun helps, making it possibly more just angry or angry/depressed talk than extreme imminent danger, but still, the geriatric medical and geropsych eval is in order for sure, before he does something else reckless or gets put in jail. Take some notes or even recordings on the things he says, in case there are guardianship proceedings I the near future. And- how are you holding up trying to provide the supervision he needs, while being afraid of what's next? This has got to be tough on you!

Very sad, self destructive is scary, but threatening others and endangering others by driving is even scarier. Can you talk to his doctor? Can you take the car away? He will be livid! When I asked dad not to drive, I gave him a lot of attention, drove him to outings, errands, etc.. I knew he would not stick to it, if he was grounded at home.

The bank is not taking his money, it is HE who makes several trips to the bank and withdraws money then does not remember doing so.....With that being said, I thank everyone who has giving me useful suggestions and comments that I will look into. I am very concerned for his safety and the safety of others.
