I am visiting a friend who had a stroke and is in a rehabilitation center. The patient's family lives out of state. He has no family in my state. I visit him three days per week. In addition, I pay for hair cuts and finger nail trims, in addition to clothes when needed. Can I deduct these expenses when I do my taxes? Thank you for your help.

Ken, sorry, you cannot deduct these expenses when you do your taxes. These types of deductions are only for the patient tax payer, not anyone else.
