That's called a draw sheet, or some call it a turning sheet.

In my experience, Medicare is the primary insurance and your Kaiser would be the secondary policy anyway. So they file Medicare first, and then what that doesn't pay would be filed with Kaiser and then depending on the policy, they would pay.

Not sure about renting a Geri (short for geriatric) chair, but you could certainly check that out.

Use a washable or disposable pad underneath your mother's buttocks to catch the "overflow" from her disposable underwear.

Good luck and try to get some rest.

go to goodwill or value village on monday because that is dollar day in you can get diapers for a dollar if it is that color but go when it opens . get two diapers in cut one in the center n remove some of the showing side then but the other one on top of it so you have the power of two . i hope that works for you.

You might could get a reclining manual wheelchair instead of a Geri chair, they tend to have those just in institutions. And you can get those blue Chux or similar pads and even buy special vinyl sheets. You can use pet store puppy pads if they are cheaper than drugstore ones if they are not covered. The mattress called GeoMatt is quite good for pressure relief and not as expensive as specialized beds that also may not be considered home equipment. You may be able to get an alternating air mattress but you still have to do some turning and positioning.

Here's hoping that eldercare consult is a huge help. I know mine was. It is sad and there is no reason in the world not to allow yourself a good cry or two or more. But for real - you sound like you have been pretty depressed for a looong time and I hope you can try to get some help for yourself too. When you are depressed it is hard to focus on the most important things and every little thing just seems like another hopeless obstacle to overcome, and even harder not to be mean and negative with people who are not getting the whole picture and don't seem to be listening to you let alone helping. Then they start acting even worse.

The truth is Mom is declining but she has YOU and your deep concern and care for her. You can't prevent her from declining, but you are there beside her when you can be and you are trying to get her the best care and comfort she can have through this difficult time. Hugs and prayers for you and mom!

second hand geri chairs should be available at a Goodwill or Salvation Army store. Also try ebay classifieds or craigslist or your local pennysaver paper.
