Hello everyone, I have been here a few times discussing my concerns with my mom and how I feel that she may be developing early symptoms of dementia. I wanted to keep you up to date. Well a few weeks back I decided to approach her with my concerns face to face. I did not want to do it that way because she's very head strong and she would get angry to think that her sons think that she may be crazy. I'm the son that spends a lot of time with her so she tells me a lot more than my other brother (mommas boy). So I got emotional one morning and told her that I thinks she's changing and that I feel that she might be developing early dementia. She told me that this cant happen to her because no one in her family had that sickness. It was very emotional and she saw that I was scared for her. So she made me a promise to go see her doctor, which whom I have been speaking with personally. She found out that I have been speaking with her doctors which made me nervous, but thank god that only made her realize how concerned I was. My mom is dealing with a lot of stress, which I did not know of. She is still paranoid, still humming around the house, and when I drove her somewhere she still was not the same mom I knew, but this could be because of stress. She's helping her sisters (her sister passed away) daughter deal with other family members who are taking advantage of her. My mom always tries to be a superwomen, but now I think this drama in the family is effecting her. She drives fine, go's shopping fine, go's to work and comes back fine....Some days are normal how she acts, and others are different.
She told me this morning that her doctors want her to see a Dermatologist because of a bump on her thumb. God I swear I hope its not cancer. She told me this today while driving her to work. I'm not sure what to think.
Thanks to everyone again.
If the doctors recommended an oncologist, then I'd be really nervous.
Best to go and find out what it is and move on.
I'm assuming she doesn't have arthritis?
