My husband leans after a 30 minutes of sitting in his wheelchair. He is asking for support so he can rest in that position and not feel like he’s falling. I’ve done some searching on Amazon, and there are a few different types of lateral supports. I wonder if anyone has experience with this and what you have tried other than pillows. Thanks!
My dad's power wheelchair does have lateral supports, as well as a chest strap (which he doesn't like to use anymore now that he has a bit more core strength).
My LO started leaning quite badly to one side and I began research to find her help. Her neck has to be in pain. Therapists were not much help, so, I looked online. THEN, I read that while sometimes leaning to the side CAN be a part of the progression of dementia, IT CAN ALSO BE A RESULT OF MEDICATION, specially, those for seizures, anxiety, depression, etc. I asked her doctor about it and he adjusted her medication......VERY SOON, her leaning went away. It was like a miracle. I'd check on that just to make sure that it's not a med. Good luck with your situation.
