My 97 year old mom who is bedridden needs to be checked by a physician. She has discomfort in her ears. I am not sure if it’s wax buildup or infection. She is barely eating and hallucinating. She has been checked for UTI. When she has hallucinations, her hands and feet get really cold. She home health services but her nurse cannot diagnose all her problems.

With everything you've described(including moms age)it seems like hospice should be the next step. They will have a nurse practitioner come every few months(or more if needed), a nurse to come weekly to start, and aides to come bathe her several days a week. And they will supply any needed equipment(including hospital bed), supplies and medications, all covered 100% under moms Medicare.
I would call them ASAP. Best wishes.

She may need an ear Doctor and not sure if a Specialist would come out. There are doctors that visit or at least a Nurse Practitioner and I an sure Medicare would pay for it. But thats a question for the doctor's office. Not all dictors take Medicare.

I agree that your mom may need hospice care at this point. You may actually benefit from calling 911 and getting her to the ER for a full evaluation for all the issues you mention she suffers from. I call that 'one stop shopping' for the elder; the quickest and easiest way to get a bunch of tests done in one place.

Medicare will often pay for a doctor who makes house calls to come into mom's home to see her, yes. You'll have to FIND one to actually do so, however, which can take an act of God in post-Covid times as we're in right now, when doctors don't even want to see patients in their OFFICE and prefer 'virtual visits'. But look online for 'house call physicians' in your city and see what comes up. For Huntington Beach CA, Virtue Medical Group comes up and their website says they DO make house calls:

Call to see if they accept Medicare for their house calls service; I'm not sure.

These doctors, once they see mom, can write a referral for hospice. BUT, you don't need a referral to call a local hospice company yourself and ask for an evaluation to be made.

Best of luck.
