His orthopedic Dr. thinks it may be pinched nerve in that leg. He is back in Physical Therapy. Is this pretty normal thing to happen? Dr. said X-ray and equipment looked fine.

You are doing all you can with the followup. I was going to say need to check the equipment. I am glad of the Physical Therapy.I love them.I think them often better at diagnosis and treatment than MDs. Do keep us posted. I think it is most "UNusual" than usual for this to happen. So it is worrisome, but you are doing absolutely everything perfectly. Keep us updated. I BELIEVE in PT so much. They helped my brother so much with his balance even with a benign brain tumor sitting on his medulla (portion of brain involved with balance.) Good luck!

Jannyfa, figuring out the sources of medical problems is often the process of elimination. If you are following a logical path, dictated by post-surgical protocol and follow-up (faithful PT) and getting care from the same doc (continuity of care is very important) and yet the pain persists, maybe you will need to consider it is being caused by something else. My DH developed excruciating pain in his leg and it turned out to be a cyst pressing on a nerve in his spine. I'm not saying your LO has a cyst, just saying how the origin of pain may not be coming from the place where the pain is occurring. Just keep pressing his doc to look at other options if your LO is not getting relief despite following PT and other current therapy. Good luck!

Unfortunately it is common. My MIL had knee replacement surgery and it never worked and she remained in constant pain until she died. She regretted having the surgery and no amount of PT fixed it. I would consider getting a second opinion to see if the implant is properly placed. Also, remember that it's a foreign object and his body may be reacting to it. A CT scan may be necessary to show tissue damage that's related to the implant.
