There are no vacancies in any of the areas where I can live near my family. I have my applications on 20 waiting lists. Many don't allow pets and I have two pets which lower my blood pressure and relieve stress. I am willing to pay a deposit for them, but there are no vacancies any place. Where are people my age supposed to live. I am 83 and have been looking for a rental apartment for more than a year.

if your income is limited - you might have to be flexible in WHERE you live and whether or not you have pets. One of my good friends couldn't afford apartments in the metro area and moved to a smaller town outside the metro where he could afford to live yet the drive to family wasn't more than 45 minutes

jflangton, if you are living in an apartment right now that accepts pets, continue staying there until a unit opens up. Sometimes we need a little bit of patience, and it will be worth it in the end.

You're also far East of and between two major cities, but closer to a large national forest. I wouldn't think there would be as many apartment facilities in your area as there would be if you were closer to a metropolitan area. You might want to consider moving, as well as investigating Sec. 8 housing.
