OT and PT just make her hurt worse. If we see the dr and get new orders they can start again but the aide will only come once a week. Not sure we can afford private pay. Nursing home sounds scary. She is on a special diet, overweight and her hip is really bad. What to do. I need to work!
I'd consider what her needs are now for care. Is she able to live alone in the home? If not, I'd get an assessment to see what level of care that she does need. I'd focus on where she might get that. Nursing homes are one option. There isn't anything scary about the ones that I have seen. The Assisted Living facilities are pretty good too, based on my experience. And then there is getting inhome care to come into her home. I'd explore all the options. What does your mom want to do? Does she realize her needs and risks?
I noticed that you commented about what "we" could afford. It's actually her income and assets that are considered. You might explore if she is able to afford private pay or not, what she qualifies for in your state, based on income, assets and need, according to a doctor.
