Mom was a teenager in the 1950s (poodle skirt and petticoat) and is still a rebel without a cause. Her homocysteine levels are high, of course but vitamin B and folate could help. Her primary doctor prescribed folate and her functional medicine doctor is recommending Vitamin Bs. Sometimes mom takes them and sometimes she says "no". What have you all tried to encourage our loved ones to take their meds/vitamins, etc.

First I would review her meds and supplements and discontinue any that are not absolutely necessary for quality of life, keeping in mind that all forms of dementia are progressive and terminal. Would it be possible for her to have periodic B12 injections in addition to oral supplements?

My mother is the same she’ll take everything but not vitamins or anti depressants- two things she needs the most. I don’t do this personally but if she needs to take the meds can you crush it up into her food? I’m talking about meds you know she should take of course
