Robert And Mary's Place In Machias
36 Dublin Street Machias, ME 04654

I got this by Googling "Adult Day Care, Machias, Maine. I know that you are in East Machias (we spend some summers in Lubec) but is it a possibility?

Thanks Barb, It is a possibility but they want you there 5 days a week and that can't be done. If you are ever going to Lubec let me know. We are on gardner Lake and have a lovely place for you to stay. we have many friends in Lubec and we would love to take you around. A nice brewery with music just opened there.

i have the same problem with mom, ugh. it gets to the point where i say, "mom, please stop talking. let's just sit and relax together". and then that's what i do.

My mom does that too. It’s always the same topics over and over. They don’t have anything new in life.

I like remininscing about her childhood though. Very interesting to hear how different life was then.

Grandma is a non stop chatter box 24/7. If it was only chatter, she'll scream out like she's in a argument quite often. It's hard to tell the difference between that and her calling for help because she fell.

It would be one thing if it was sweet memories of days gone by. It's not. It's an endlessly repeating loop of everyone who's wronged her since she was a toddler.

Is it possible to get him a dictaphone (or whatever the modern technology is) and ask him to dictate his memoirs? Talking to the machine might be good enough for him, and the memoirs might be nice too. See if you can put a seat in the kitchen (and other rooms?) so that you can actually do something while you are listening. No meals if you can’t cook. Apart from that – tough!

My mom says one day she won’t be around to talk. Haha . So true. In the meantime..it’s non stop. Tv is on highest volume and she doesn’t listen, but tells me about the background of everyone on tv. Also, roofs over past. It’s a lot, but I’ve seen a loved who with dementia who no longer spoke and it was heartbreaking. Take it all on now while you can.
