Hello the caregiver finishes work on Saturday, she expects to be paid right then and the check put in the mail, she expects the check to be there on Wed when she returns to my Mom. I am getting VERY frustrated. I get paid up to 7-14 days after I finish my work and my husband gets paid once a month. I feel if she finishes the job on Saturday she should expect the check to come within a week. I work as a cake decorator so I try really hard to write the check on Saturday, the problem is the mail system doesn't work on Sundays. I feel she needs to learn to figure out her finances and quite bugging my Mom about her money, It always comes within a week....
The on-line banking works is ideal if she is all above board in her work and reporting and has an actual bank account. Now is she actually bank depositing the check? OR is she going and cashing it out at a grocery store, cash America place or signing it over to another? Look at the cancelled checks to see what's what.
Have you provided her a W-9 & I-9 to fill out & return to you (your mom) so that you both are compliant, reporting, etc?
Simple written agreements seem to save everyone a lot of confusion and upset.
I haven't been in this situation exactly like yours, but written agreements cover a lot of bases in all sorts of situations.
