He is going into short term rehab and then will be living in the nursing home. Am I eligible for Community Spousal Protection Act? My income from SSI is very low since I left my job 28 years ago in order to take care of my husband as his MS progressed. Most of our income is in his name and he will need to go on Medicaid in order to live in a nursing home. Any answers or advice is greatly appreciated.

Try contacting your states Dept. of Aging or Senior Housing. You can search on State of Connecticut's website for the appropriate dept and their phone number. Due to Covid-19, many if not all state offices are closed for in-person appointments but CT should have an 800 # you can call.

igloo is a long time poster on this subject. She always says that when a community spouse income needs to be protected it is not a DIY project to get this application right.
She advises that you need the services of a certified elder law attorney well versed in your states Medicaid laws.
Here is an article that explains the amount that a community spouse may keep in CT. Perhaps you have someone working with you already on placing your DH?
I wish you every success in securing this support.
