We Also made a deal for me to buy an antique bedroom set she has for $400. If I buy the set does she get to keep her $400 in cash? Or will the nursing home require that she give them the money for payment?

I don’t think the sale of the property would make a difference but I am not sure.

If she is on Medicaid, yes that $400 could effect her asset cap. If she was spent down to the penny, then no problem. My State allows 2k. An additional $400 could be a problem. Who is paying for her storage unit? Maybe the $400 can be applied towards the cost. Set aside and when she needs something buy it out of the $400. If on Medicaid she only gets a small personal needs allowance. If private pay, just deposit in her acct.
