There seems to be a missing link with this situation. Does this exist? I’m not talking about them living separately at two ends of the same building. I’m talking in the SAME apartment or suite.
Memory Care is not just to prevent wandering. Memory Care is a smaller population of residents. The staff to resident ratio is a bit better than in AL. The smaller unit is also more contained so that a resident does not have to go a great distance for a meal, a snack or any of the activities.
I did eventually find what I was looking for - AL with an “aging in place” philosophy, providing increased care services as one needs it. They would be able to live in the same apartment. We found 3 such very nice places in my city, and then 1 in their town. Unfortunately, mom passed away before we were able to try them out. I did want to comment here for others in the same boat. Look for an “Aging in place” AL if this is what you need/want for your parents. They do exist!
