How do you feel about keeping your husband at home?

Do his doctors think he needs placement?

How well do you get along with his kids? Do you trust that they his and your best interests at heart?

Do you belong to a caregiver support group?

Sorry for so many questions, but a clearer picture will result in better answers.

I kept my husband at home for the ten-year journey with Lewy Body Dementia (which is essentially what your husband has, but with the symptoms coming in a different order.) Very early on I called Social Services and asked for a needs assessment. That social worker told me to apply for Medicaid. What?! We were both professionals, not poverty-level folks! But I was amazed how quickly you can be facing poverty with a serious chronic illness. She also advised me to consult an Elder Law attorney.

I pass on her advice to you. Consult an Elder Law specialist who can explain your options to you.
