Another question, I have started to manage or assisted in managing a Adult Family Home. They have it already set up, but they have not done anything correct legally, setting up the charts for patients, having them locked up, etc. so that nothing gets put in another patients chart. This is a new position, and I do not know if I am so frustrated about Elder Care that I should possibly wait, but all I know is this, since my client Diet in 10 06-2014, I have only had one senior client, which was ok, not perfect, and I loved the rest of my day, even though, the children that I would pick up from school, the mothers were paying me less and less, or staying at work longer anonger to the point that I was working for 5.00 per hour;
In the 10 years of doing this the legal way taking out my taxes, I have had 2 or 4 very generous clients, that really paid me what I feel this was really worth, and it was not elder care or child care, it was giving rides to people whom needed it to co someplace. I feel like canceling my rider insurance an extra ($400 per 6 months) to drive people in my car, and if I don't do this, we my husband and I would lose anything.

Find Care & Housing
I don't know what your main question is, but it sounds like you are currently working at a senior group home and wanting to connect with others who work in a similar field, to see if you can find a better job situation. Is that what you're considering? I don't know if this website has much in the way of job opportunities. There is another website, I think it is care, where you can advertise yourself and get more or different jobs.

If you do sign up with Care, Please be very careful about any personal info you put on your profile... have people who are interested in you working for them contact you thru the site.... I had a scammer trying to run a number one me... kept all the emails, ect and reported it to Care.com and sent the emails to them... it is not the sites fault, it was mine for putting my email address for anyone to contact me....just be careful..

I ran into an old friend recently and she told she had been working in private in-home care for over 30 years. Her clients eventually passed away and she was having a difficult time getting new ones. She was getting ready to move to a large city about 3 hours away from her home to get more work.

So, I don't know if you are in a large city or not, but apparently, it's more difficult to get work in smaller towns. I guess the income levels are lower in the small towns as well.

I really admire people who do this kind of work. I wish you the best.

I have been in caregiving for over 20 yrs now.... after being relocated to a much smaller town after Hurricane Rita, It took a while to find a job.....and yes, the pay is smaller here, but so is the cost of living.... so it all balances out..... I have had so many clients die in the past five years it has taken its toll on me and no longer wanted to do private caregiving..... but people here know me now and refer me... so , working again as a caregiver,,, have a really great family this time....and there are days I dread it, until I get there, then I kick in to caregiver mode and it all works..... was thinking yesterday when things were a bit chaotic, that private caregivers have to wear so many hats on some days.... I appreciate Sunnygirl that you said you admire people who do this kind of work.... and I, in turn, have nothing but absolute respect and admiration for families that do this every day, for years on end, with out a break......
