Hello - my 74 year old mother is in the final stages of cancer (multiple myeloma), and this past week, her kidneys failed. She was transported by air to a hospital in Boise, ID, where they have been caring for her. We have no family within several hundred miles of there, and no financial resources available to keep someone there with her all the time. Currently, she is receiving dialysis daily, but we are being told by the doctors that she may not be a candidate for long term dialysis due to her advanced stage of cancer. I would like very much to have her transferred to a hospital in the town (or near vicinity) of where I live in Bend, Oregon (about 315 miles away) - is this possible, and if so, how do I go about coordinating it? I have no financial means to help, and she is on a fixed SSN income of $800.00/mo, and has medicare only. Any suggestions would be incredibly appreciated.
The hospital social worker?
It's not all about the day we die. It's about the days we lived. It comes to an end and often it's inconvenient but it comes to an end. A big hug to you and your mom.
