Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. APFM does not (and may not) require or even ask consumers seeking senior housing or care services in Washington State to sign waivers of liability for losses of personal property or injury or to sign waivers of any rights established under law.I agree that: A.I authorize A Place For Mom ("APFM") to collect certain personal and contact detail information, as well as relevant health care information about me or from me about the senior family member or relative I am assisting ("Senior Living Care Information"). Do you know why your coworker is not bathing her senior client? Is the coworker neglectful in other duties as well?
At one time, several years ago, my mother who has Alzheimer's had gone for 6 straight months without bathing. She would refuse and would break down crying whenever I insisted she take a shower. I couldn't physically force her, so what could I have done? Nothing.
Is there a chance that the senior client is also refusing baths?
I am assuming that you have given your manager the information you have that is solid evidence? After that everything is up to your manager, not you. If she was counseled I doubt you would be privy to that information. Simply let your manager know your information, and step away from the situation.
Sounds like a sensible solution to me. The only thing that she should truly be concerned about is that she is doing her job adequately. The rest will sort itself out.
I have a problem with advice that implies that simply reporting neglect or abuse up the chain of command is adequate, what about when this kind of thing is not resolved because the supervisor can't be bothered or the facility/agency in general is sub standard and toxic? IMO this is one of the reasons why the good workers burn out and leave.
But if supervisory staff cannot handle it, certainly this aid worker cannot, and the repercussions for her interfering directly with a person already not doing the job could be serious to her. Adult protective could be brought in if things are dire. But I think following the chain of command is definitely the way to start. Just my humble opinion. Our OP has zero control over this worker.
According to the case manager at my house, the client has a right to refuse to be bathed. The worker documents it on papeework, do you? Nothing is so simple as forcing a bath, even when it is necessary.
You have reported to your manager. The situation is now out of your hand. Or as I say ..it is above your pay grade. A client can refuse a shower or a bath. If the fact that the client is not bathing bothers you to the point where you can no do your job you can be asked to be reassigned.
This is not her responsibility and should not be. She reported it to her supervisor. Its up to that supervisor to talk to the other aide and find out why she is not bathing the client. Could be the client fights her and she is getting hurt or the person refuses to be bathed. It is the responsibility of that aide to bring it to the supervisor attn she cannot bathe the person. Then the supervisor contacts the family telling them about the problem. There is chain of command for a reason, good or bad.
