My father is unable to give guidance with this decision due to the status of his health. His estate currently pays approximately $400 a day for live in caregiving done in his own home. So this is not a new care plan, just that I will be doing the care giving instead of the mediocre caregivers sent to him by an agency.
PS: Yes this has been well thought out and I understand the enormity of the task at hand.
This amount has been established through the agency, so you can legitimately charge the same plus the other.
When it comes to cost, it would be less expensive for your Dad to move to senior living. When my Dad was in Memory Care, it was around $7k per month or $84k a year. Then your Dad would get good care, plus be around people of his own age group, that is what my Dad loved about the place he was in, plus the food. I was able to be his daughter once again, instead of a frustrated logistical caregiver.
