Iman was hit by a car going freeway speed walking. He wants his kids and I there but his sister blocks that. She was made his representative while he was in a coma. He’s now able to speak and they lie saying he’s non verbal. I need help to make people listen. I’m a cna this is abuse.
Does your sister have proof of this responsibility, or is it just her verbal assertions?
Is there no other family? Are his parents still living? If so then they will be considered the next of kin before the sister.
This is terrible. Why would his sister want to keep his kids and partner from seeing him?
Unfortunately, if you're not his legal spouse there's really nothing you can do legally and no one is going to share any information with you. If there's any other family that you could speak to and tell about this, it could help. They might even talk to this sister.
Does this man have a legal Guardian appointed by the court? If there is change in his communication this could warrant a review of his mental capacity.
A professional (psychologist/psychiatrist) would assess his understanding & decision making ability. If unable, then if full Guardianship is required or perhaps a lesser level like Supported Decision Maker.
There are many reasons children are not taken to visit parents, especially if it would frighten or upset younger children. The assumption on the profile that his Sister is money-hungry is a character judgement that may have no bearing.
If he is competent, he can revolk his sister as a representative because he wasn't the one who assigned her. He can change that to you. Can he write, because he could do it that way. For the future, if his kids are adults he may want to assign one if them as his POA. If not, then you.
