I work at a low income housing complex for independent seniors. Since this pandemic started we closed down our community rooms and put all activities on hold. We will slowly be opening them back and I'm looking for fun, attention grabbing activities that we can do while continuing to abide by social distancing protocols. Funds are limited.

How about a weekly movie night? Should be easy to set up seating spread apart? Since theaters have been closed For 3 months you can now watch all new major motion pictures on TV (using Apple TV or your cable provider) for $20. I would prepare individual snack boxes & hand them out as each resident is seated. Maybe you could figure out what the new movies are & survey the residents and then show the 2 most popular movies-like a biweekly movie night?

At Moms LTC they took pool noodles and cut them in 3rds. Then let let a balloon go and the residents hit at it. You could do this by putting 3 or 4 people in a circle and have them bat it back and forth.

My niece used to be activity director for an AL. She used to sit residents in a circle and do sit down exercises.
