Just in case you might have difficulty finding a geriatric PSYCHIATRIST In your immediate area, a trained geriatric specialist in the areas of psychology and/or social work should be able to provide interim support for you and your mom, and also may have info about resources for finding a psychiatrist specializing in geriatric care.

You could also see a neurologist. A geriatric Doctor is a good choice over a PCP but you’d want someone to analyze the brain and it’s activities.

We have a geriatric specialist overseeing my mom's care and she is wonderful, both with mom and with us. There are social workers in her practice, but if neuro or psych consults are needed, she will fast track the referral.
