Find Care & Housing
Is this sort of a reverse mortgage type of thing, but no guaranteed income beyond social security once the sale proceeds run out? Eek. You would think you could spend money on a caregiver, and qualify for Medicaid once all the money is spent, but you might need help from an eldercare attorney or estate planner to be sure.

She may be able to qualify for help after she has spent the money that she has in her account. The money has to be spent wisely, since if she were to need to qualify for Medicaid in the future there is a lookback period. It seems to me that a caregiver would be a valid expense.
