Rehabs are for OT PT and not for helicoptering hand and foot. Rehab means that the patient has to move and do things on their own as compared to being in the hospital. Think of the term of use it or lose it.I had a co worker who was injured in a medical helicopter crash. She was sent to one of the 2 best rehabs that had good outcomes. She said the meals sucked and that the care she received in the hospital was reduced but she was greatful that she was pushed to do her exercises. It may be best to ask first which facilities are covered by her insurance and make some visits to see if you feel a good vibe. Otherwise she goes home to you and you can deal with it.

Looking at your profile, you may want to notify the social worker about an unsafe discharge to her husband, but that is another question

I'm afraid things are past rehab. What you're describing is neglect. Is stepdad even physically capable of being a caregiver? Besides the emotional abuse, there is such a thing as unintentional neglect; but, intentional or not, it's
time to get Protective Services involved. Things aren't going to get better without a strong intervention.

Talk to someone at the two agencies below ASAP.

Best wishes for a safe harbor for mom and peace for all of you.
